Random, and his perspective on Ramon in fifty sentences.
01 – Snow
What I remember the most, the clearest, about the cat was coming home and seeing it shake the snow out of its fur all over my rug, then look up sheepishly like I’d caught it with its paw in the cream.
02 – Child
Emanuel, the word lingered in his eyes and touched his frown and smile and soul.
03 - Brick
I shot a man once, just for trying to throw a half a brick at him, in cold blood and without remorse.
04 – Judgment
In a hasty moment, my lover found a small blond man in a bar and decided he wanted him: I’ve never trusted Ramon’s judgment, not since he decided he loved me, and no, I’ve never once minded.
05 - Powder
White powder was the simplest of the very few things that came close to coming between us; cell walls, worlds, children, and innocuous white powder.
06 - Grim
The look on his face, when changing diapers, something I seldom let him do, I will treasure for ever.
07 - Trap
Looking him in the eyes when I was angry I tried to avoid, because in a moment my resolve would crumble and I’d reach for him and that would be the end of it.
08 – Star
They shine bright over the precipice in Columbia, where we’ve come to gaze and search for constellations, but I ignore them, turning my face instead to look at him, and finding him staring at me in return.
09 – Possession
I had to steal the paperclip one night, to reinforce it with bits of shadows, trying to keep as much of the original as possible, but still have it strong so it can last.
10 - Bandage
He touches my side with a frown, eyes glancing up and asking a question I don’t want to have to answer.
11 - Pearl
“I love you” is, I believe, the single most accurate pearl of wisdom I ever could offer him.
12 - Glass
His hands flutter, and the champagne flute drops to the ground when I slide my arms around him and whisper “Happy Birthday.”
13 - Classified
I never told him more than three things about politics once I was pulled back in, and I think he both hated and loved me for it.
14 - Buttons
I undo the buttons one by one, ghosting touches across his chest as he moans a pretty tune to my touch.
15 - Closet
He arches an eyebrow at my teeshirt and mutters something about never having to worry about me deciding to become an in-the-closet sort of gay.
16 – Ash
The fire is nothing but ash, burned down completely, but he is in my arms and I am warm.
17 - Definition
When Martin asked him ‘What is love?’ and I heard him answer ‘Like your father and me’ I think my heart skipped a beat and I know my knees very nearly gave out.
18 - Staircase
Despite the laws of both physics and probability, I never fell down it, though Ramon says I should have.
19 - Nail
I draw my fingers down his back and he shudders at the pressure of my nails against his skin.
20 – Prey
The look in his eyes when I told him I’d bought him handcuffs made me shudder despite myself.
21 – Backwards
We had sex long before we fell in love, though I don’t think it could have been any other way.
22 - Trouble
The look in his eyes, the desperation in his touch, the might be the last time need in him all tell me something’s wrong.
23 - Little
He cuts my tomato even though he hates it, he buys me chocolate when he comes back from the bar, he makes sure there’s always film in the camera case and makes sure there’s shampoo and lubricant and that it’s always eucalyptus scented soap.
24 - Collar
My hand brushes against his neck as I straighten his collar and he smiles at me as he reaches to adjust my tie.
25 - Circle
My scotch glass feels familiar in my hands, and his hands circling the bottle look perfect.
26 - Hands
Haven’s moon isn’t bright, so I reach for his hand to guide him safely up the slope and back towards home.
27 - Freedom
Sanluin had sworn no oaths, so Sanluin it would be.
28 - Last
Five hundred years count slowly by, and I begin to wonder how I’ll ever think of anyone else this way.

The aftermath of one of his fights is still written on his skin, so my hands are soft when I reach for him.

We waste it like water with bickering and fighting and tears, as though our struggles to find it were just an unhappy dream.

Nori, sushi, sashimi, wasabi and ginger and Ramon making faces at me as I eat my lunch.

Our first sheets, the ones I brought back from Columbia, wear through along with the next and the next, but it doesn’t matter.
34 - Paint
He braved the scent of newly painted walls to sleep with me when I was lonely, though I knew he hated it.
35 - Ache
Watching him sleep still brings such an ache in my chest that I can hardly breathe.
36 - Cherry
‘Popped your cherry’ I tease him, and his laugh is long suffering but happy.
37 - Library
My library, of late, seems to be growing a ‘Tom Clancy’ section.
38 - Win
I never could stop playing games.
39 - Loss
The house in Columbia was still under surveillance, so this Christmas was spent in Haven.
40 - Fold
His arms slide around my waist and we fold around eachother, him holding me together and I him.

He laughs as he dips me, then pulls me back up and twirls me, while the tango continues.
42 - Bell

I seldom wake up before he does, but on the occasions that I do I always steal the time to watch him, as I know he does me.

Even the lightest trailing of fingertips against my skin is enough to make me moan for him.

We remained in a tent for a month, once, not because either of us enjoy being without luxury, but because both of us need to be with eachother.

He whines pleadingly for pancakes as I pour milk over the cereal; he’d never eat properly if I didn’t watch him.
47 - Wild
His teeth bite just a small touch too hard, my skin breaks, and I scream for the pleasure of knowing I’ve stolen his control yet again.
48 - Expectation
I don’t even need to look up to know he’s smirking.
49 - Mechanism
His fingers wind up the singing toy for my son and I smile from the doorway, quietly observing the unusually tender moment.
50 - Finale
His chest rises, and falls, and I rest my head on it, and it rises, and his hand comes up, trembling, to wrap through my hair, and falls, and I smile and say ‘I love you’ and it doesn’t rise again.
