Awesome! I'm really glad I read this mate, background is always nice.
I have to tell you - and have been meaning to for a while actually - I am envious as hell of the way you act all the time. Actually, I think I might have mentioned it to you once. I suppose it might make more sense now that I wrote that I'd always wanted to be an actor. But yeah, one thing I can tell you for sure is...
...if you really love it and really want to study it, you'll always regret it if you don't. Honestly. Take it from someone who knows. So, no matter what your mother says - if it's what you want, then you should do it. You only get one life, after all. That you're aware of anyway.
As for the travelling vs. work scenario - any reason why you can't do both? Work for half a year and then travel the rest? I can't recommend travel enough, it broadens your horizons like you wouldn't believe and is more fun than anything. Ever. But at the same time, I would recommend a touch of caution - I'm in a hell of a lot of debt now, because of what I did. And it's hampered my ability to do any more for the time being; also, it's not much fun. So if you need to work to travel, do it.
And go to Vancouver. Another thing you'll regret if you don't. Big world out there, and not much time to see it!
OK, I could give you advice all day. But honestly, you have to do what's best for you. And only you know what that is. I just...recommend following your dreams. Even if you don't end up exactly where you want to be, you'll know that you tried, and that's a good thing. And you might just end up somewhere really fabulous, whether it's what you were aiming for or not. *hugs*
