Dworkin could drop Sands ANYWHERE, and he'd likely do it somewhere odd and empty. Like the desert at sunset. So if Lawrence was the one to find Sands they could have stuff going on there (either of Sands bitching or Sands unconscious and dehydrated, your choice, Susan) and the two could be out in the middle of nowhere with no access to a door to get back to the bar and TELL Mal that they're alright, so the rest of the Minivaners of Doom (tm) go out to get him ANYWAYS...
So I just like the idea of a minivan in the world of Lawrence of Arabia. So sue me. *snicker* But that works, as it's more clear Dworkin isn't leaving him to die. They just THINK he is because death isn't in immediate sight.
